Future of staffing and its impact in 2020 (including the time of Covid19)

We can’t change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust the sails”-This quote is close to my heart and I feel apt to be adopted in the uncertainty we are witnessing due to COVID 19. Staffing industry in India has been growing at supersonic speed in the last few years and is poised to grow at 22.7% to reach 6.1 million workforce by 2021, thus adding fuel to India’s aspiration of $5trillion economy by 2024. However, in the current unprecedented scenario, when the entire world is pushed back in their homes by a pandemic virus, staffing companies are coming up quickly with survival strategies that focus on the benefits of customers.

We, as an organization, have also adopted certain measures to cope up with the current scenario wherein we prioritized on zero connectivity gap with our clients and employees, float 24/7 emergency numbers at all levels, and equip the team on war footing to remotely support our stakeholders. This has been possible due to the continuous use of modern technology that has got into our DNA now. I feel that the need of the hour is to be more empathetic to the customers.

Our government has taken bold steps to control the epidemic and comparing the situation in India to rest of the world, I am optimistic that the domestic market would revive within Q1 of the current fiscal year.

I also believe that flexi-staffing would gain momentum faster in the changed economic conditions and the HR fraternity of Corporate India would bank on this more, considering cost-effectiveness, service flexibility and short durations of the projects. At the same time, ISF would be ensuring an ecosystem that promotes innovative flexi-models, flawless compliance and operational efficiencies, through its member companies, to corporates.

Challenged, yet unvanquished, the domestic market will soon revive, thanks to the alacrity shown by the Indian Government and its associated bodies. Things have already started looking up and I am confident that the crisis will soon be over.
