Future of staffing and its impact in 2020 (including the time of Covid19)

Economic volatility is a reality today and organisations need to be more flexible to accommodate market changes. The staffing market in India is already large considering the population in the labour pool and is poised for rapid growth. Organisations are compelled to leverage human capital as a critical competitive advantage. Staffing has emerged as a key business enabler with its inherent value proposition of flexibility, scale and cost optimisation.

Needless to say, India has its own challenges and drivers which are determining the winds of change in Staffing. In this moment, uncertainty and apprehension about our collective future & its impact on our health, wealth and well-being — dominates the airwaves.

The virus is, unsurprisingly, having a huge impact on businesses and the staffing industry is certainly not immune to that. Businesses are having to adapt quickly in order to survive and it is very much possible that the legacy of COVID-19 may forever change the nature of recruitment and the workplace landscape.

Despite these challenges, leading organizations are building engaged and thriving workforces.

They say when one door closes, even temporarily, another often opens. As people practice social distancing to avoid contracting COVID-19, industries like hospitality, tourism, retail etc across the globe are closing their doors & laying off workforce. But needs must be met. so online sellers and a host of other businesses are mass hiring for delivery, security, warehousing and distribution personnel.

The challenge for these organizations will be to hire quickly and effectively at scale, without putting recruitment professionals and the public at risk. Technology is driving the effort. Online applications, video interviewing, online onboarding and more are being leveraged to enable fast, effective hiring.

Quoting the very trending phrase- ‘what led the digital transformation of your company? Not the CTO, no influencer but COVID-19’.
